Welcome to The Central Research Group
Established in 1976 as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization
Purpose
The Central Research Group, Inc. (CRG) was founded prior to email and the internet. But it anticipated that model at its inception in 1976 to join scholars from great distances in mutual efforts to serve the public good. Its Board of Directors is also its staff, remunerated by grants that its members initiate. It seeks work that benefits society generally, and offers the chance for academically trained people to work across disciplines on projects of common interest.
Members of CRG can live anywhere, and meet as the occasion requires to pursue the projects that it chooses. Some members are in the academy, some in the private sector, and some in government. Among its members, the disciplines represented are political science, economics, mathematics, physics, engineering, biology, ecology, law, and history.
Its members in almost every case have identities outside of CRG, but elect to rely upon CRG as a channel for their enterprises when there are occasions consistent with CRG's philosophy. This has been true since its initial establishment in Ithaca, New York.
Guiding Principles - Among the tenets that guide CRG's outlook are:
interdisciplinary orientation, sustainable development, justice as fairness, entropy and evolution, internationalism
